“I am a widow who is married to a widower also. We also have 5 children now. I saw your story on the Today show and was moved to tears as it sounds so similar to our story. My husband and I did not know each other prior to our spouses passing. We went to the same church and our children went to the same school. Bill’s wife, Lisa, passed 11 months before my John. Bill and Lisa had 3 boys, John and I had a daughter and a son. We had mutual friends who asked him to reach out to me and my children. Knowing he could give me a little support and someone to cry to. There wasn’t anyone else to turn to. We also had am immediate connection. We like to say we are together not because we both buried spouses, that may be why we met, but we are together because we love each other.
